Young Spice
8 Jun 2010Following the success of ‘Participation: Spice it up’ and ‘Children’s rights: Spice ‘em up’ the Welsh Assembly Government commissioned Dynamix to produce a companion resource specifically aimed at the under 11’s.
It is well recognised that the participation of under 11’s presents different challenges to participation of over 11’s including doubts among adults about whether they are old enough to have an opinion. Young Spice argues that they are old enough and instead looks at how to get the most out of consulting with children. This includes the importance of play and communication, how to interpret their ideas and considering their attention span.
Sections of the toolkit include:
- Warm up games
- Trust builders
- Emotional literacy and self esteem
- Consulting
- Avoiding literacy
- Puppetry and participation
- Drama and participation
- Music and participation
- Parachutes and participation
- Energy changers
There are currently no plans to produce hard copies of this resource, but free versions can be downloaded below.
