8 Jun 2010A guide to running participation training with hard to reach and difficult to engage young people has been launched. The guide was compiled after the completion of a series of Dynamic and ContinYou participation workshops that took place throughout 2008 and 2009 and were funded by the European Social Fund.
This guide is for those working with young people who want to enable them to participate in decisions that affect their lives.
The purpose of this guide is to:
- share practice and lessons learnt from running the workshops
- show ways of engaging with young people who are thought to be harder to reach or difficult to engage
- signpost people to other resources and information that will support their work.
The guide offers advice on how to find and approach hard to reach children and begin ideas for activities to engage young people. Also included are many suggestions for activities that introduce the basics of the UNCRC, Article 12 and participation.
A comprehensive signposting guide is also included, indicating many groups and organisations where children and young people can go to get more support and information on children’s rights and participation.
