Electoral law consultation
20 Jun 2012Elections are the principal mechanism by which citizens exercise their rights over those who govern in their name. The law governing the administration of elections should therefore meet the reasonable expectations of citizens, electoral administrators, and other participants.
The Law Commission’s electoral law project is split into three phases, with review points between phases. The first phase is the scoping exercise, incorporating the consultation phase which started on 15 June. The consultation period ends on 17 September 2012; a scoping report will be published at the end of that year.
