Chief Medical Officer for Wales Annual Report 2011

2 Aug 2012

Dr Tony Jewell’s report provides an overview of the health of the people in Wales; documents some of the most significant public health challenges encountered in 2011; outlines the importance of homes as a setting for health and discusses health inequalities; and it makes recommendations to address these challenges.

Part of the report looks at the process of engagement and consultation that will take place for the Public Health (Wales) Bill. It also recommends that a new relationship be developed with the public, where they are involved in assessing and designing services as this improves these services.

The final chapter provides an overview of the six years Dr Jewell has been in post as Chief Medical Officer with a look to the future. Find it online at www.wales.gov.uk/cmo.
