A Legal Update Seminar on Equality Impact Assessment
28 May 2012In response to 'Together for Health' all Health Boards are in the process of developing radical and far-reaching change programmes to ensure health services in Wales are planned, reconfigured and delivered to meet the rising expectations and significant fiscal, demographic and societal challenges of the future.
It is vital that everyone engaged in the planning and delivery of NHS services and financial changes understands the importance of embedding equality considerations into any decision-making process right from the start and also the importance of being able to demonstrate that this is the case.
To highlight this issue and guide colleagues across Welsh public services, the NHS Centre for Equality and Human Rights and Welsh Local Government Association jointly hosted a Webex providing a legal update on Equality Impact Assessment. Presentations were made by Eve Piffaretti and Gareth Howells from Morgan Cole Solicitors.
A range of resources from the sessions are now available on the Centre's website including a recording of the event. These can provide a useful reference point for anyone embarking on an Equality Impact Assessment.
The NHS Centre for Equality and Human Rights works closely with individual Health Board and Trust equality leads and can provide NHS organisations with a range of support including advice, coaching, action learning and facilitation.
Please contact the NHS Centre for Equality and Human Rights on 01443 233450 if you would like to discuss your requirements with a member of the team.
