Promoting economic participation: challenges and opportunities for third sector organisations

13 Jan 2010

8 February - Cardiff City Stadium

The current recession has concentrated Government minds on tackling unemployment to make sure that a generation isn’t lost to dependency and economic inactivity. Third sector organisations have historically worked with many of the groups that are now the focus of decision-makers’ priorities. Established links with the most at-risk groups, an understanding of their needs, and a track record of supporting people out of dependency, mean the sector is ideally placed to contribute to current Government policies.

But what’s in it for the Third sector? Grant funding is in steady decline with many organisations being forced to rationalise their services at a time when they are needed most. So now is a crucial time for third sector organisations to link their work to current Government programmes and safeguard their services.

This conference will bring together the debate on the increasing role of the sector in promoting economic participation with a series of opportunity-based workshops on different programmes and projects.
