Participatory budgeting is a process whereby local people are given the power to spend some public money to benefit their communities. This means they can share some of the responsibility for what happens where they live, and make some real changes. There are numerous possibilities with this method as it can be used by a wide range of organisations in different situations. This course, delivered in collaboration with the Participatory Budgeting Unit, will provide participants with the practical knowledge and tools to run participatory budgeting exercises with their local community/service users. With an emphasis on workshops and real-life examples and good practice, this is an exciting course for any organisation interested in involving their communities in deciding their spending priorities.
