Welsh Assembly Government Gypsy Traveller Strategy Consultation Events
26 Aug 2009The Gypsy Traveller team within the Welsh Assembly Government have developed a draft Gypsy Traveller Strategy. The Gypsy Traveller team are hoping to open the consultation period in August. This will be for a period of 12 weeks.
The draft strategy contains information and aims for future policy direction for several policy areas in relation to Gypsy Travellers including education, health, participation and advocacy, planning, accommodation and unauthorised encampments.
The team are keen to ensure a consultation programme that captures as wide a range of views as possible. To that end they are inviting a variety of colleagues and organisations to attend and/ or provide comments and feedback on the draft strategy, not just those with a specific Gypsy Traveller remit.
The team have provisionally arranged 3 consultation events:
- MRC, Mid Wales – 21 September 2009
- Cardiff – 5 October 2009
- St Asaph- 22 October 2009
The events will also be attended by colleagues from different departments within the Welsh Assembly Government.
If you would be interested in attending one of the above events please contact Sarah Evans or Laura Evans on 01685 729210.
Places are limited so please reply early.
Please note Gypsy Travellers will be fully consulted via a series of alternative activities and events.
Attendees will be provided with a copy of the draft strategy prior to the event and a full programme and confirmation will follow at a later date.
If you are unable to attend one of the events but would still like to contribute to the consultation, please email Sarah Evans (Sarah.Evans3@Wales.GSI.Gov.UK) for a copy of the draft strategy or alternatively it will be available on the Welsh Assembly Government website once the consultation period opens.
